In the cross-country world cup and championships, the women's longest distance is 30 kilometers, a full 20 kilometers shorter than the men's longest distance.

And also on the other distances the men go further than the ladies.

Vote 18 May

But soon that may change.

On May 18, Fi's length committee will vote that the ladies and gentlemen should go the same distance: 10 kilometers, 20 kilometers and 50 kilometers.

- The proposal will encounter resistance, not least in Norway.

But we have received positive signals from Sweden, Finland, the USA and a lot of other nations, among others.

If I am to guess, I think this proposal will be adopted, says Ulvang, who is the outgoing leader of the committee, to the Norwegian newspaper Adresseavisen, which is quoted by the Norwegian news agency NTB.

"It's really weird"

Just over a year ago, several Swedish women's stars criticized the unequal distances.

- It is very strange that the boys go twice as far as us in, for example, skiathlon.

It's almost a little offensive.

It is possible to make the sport more fun by either getting longer courses or the men can adapt the course lengths to the ladies, Frida Karlsson said then.
