Earlier, the International Olympic Committee released the "Olympic 2020+5 Agenda", in which encouraging the development of virtual sports and the participation of the gaming community is one of the priorities.
The core pillar of the program is the Olympic Virtual Series, a global competition that will launch in 2021.
Following the success of the Olympic Virtual Series, the IOC wants to create an annual competition.
The new event will work closely with international sports federations and game publishers to build on the promotion of virtual sports, reach out to new communities with unique experiences, and promote innovation and the spread of Olympic values throughout the Olympic Movement.
As part of this, the IOC and the Singapore Olympic Committee are in preliminary discussions to host the Olympic Virtual Series Finals in early 2023 as part of the Virtual Sports and Games Festival.
