According to the official website of the Latvian Parliament, on April 28, amendments to the Sports Law were adopted in the final reading.

The ban applies to sports teams that were registered in Latvia and applies to international leagues.

It is noted that athletes are prohibited from participating in tournaments that take place on the territory of Russia and Belarus.

In case of violation of the ban, athletes will not be able to receive funds from the state budget for expenses related to training and competitions, and will also not be candidates for inclusion in the Latvian national teams.

Earlier it was reported that the Italian authorities demanded that the Masters series tournament be held in Rome without the participation of Russian and Belarusian tennis players.
