Parliamentary elections threaten to stop sports activity in Lebanon

The Lebanese Ministry of Youth and Sports announced, in an official statement, the need to adhere to the decision of the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities regarding the suspension of all sports activities during the period from the first to May 16, due to the inability of the Ministry of Interior to secure the security forces necessary for the matches.

The statement of the Lebanese Ministry of Youth and Sports said: “The security forces were preoccupied with their inability to secure sports, youth and scout activities during the mentioned period, and to prevent the exploitation of any of these activities in electoral cases that harm sports values on the one hand, and could lead, on the other hand, to compromising civil peace, The Ministry of Youth and Sports calls on all sports, youth and scout federations operating in Lebanon and the relevant clubs to freeze all competitions during the period from May 1 to 16, and to cooperate with the security forces in order to ensure the implementation of this decision.

It is noteworthy that the decision to freeze will be reflected in its application to the last stage of the Lebanese Football League, in addition to the “Final Four” matches in the Lebanese Basketball League final.
