Andreas Isaksson, 40, ended his playing career in Djurgårdens IF after the 2018 season.

Since then, the Swedish goalkeeper icon has been away from Swedish elite football until now.

The 40-year-old, who during his playing career was named Sweden's best goalkeeper ten times, is now the goalkeeping coach for Djurgården in the damallsvenskan.

In his first match on the coaching staff, he saw Kelsey Daughetry hold the team's first zero in the league game this season when Eskilstuna was defeated 2-0 at Stockholm's stadium.

A most welcome victory for the Blues, who thus leave the jumbo spot after starting the season with four straight losses.

"It's a wonderful group"

- It feels fun.

It is a wonderful group with wonderful energy.

Now we also had to win after a heavy start in the damallsvenskan and that means a lot.

They were so damn happy, says Andreas Isaksson to SVT Sport.

According to him, however, there is no talk of the Isaksson effect.

- No, definitely not, I have barely even started here.

I still teach the girls and we will work on and try to develop.

The players themselves are pleased to have brought Isaksson into the coaching staff.

- He will give us a different approach.

It is exciting and good for women's football in general that someone like him comes and works with us, says Kelsey Daugherty to SVT Sport.

"Comes from great experience"

Daugherty's goalkeeper competitor Elvira Björklund, 18, is also looking forward to the collaboration.

- He comes from great experience and I am very young and do not have that experience yet.

So I hope he can come up with lots of tips and new stuff to think about so you can get to new levels as well.

When asked if Isaksson can imagine becoming head coach one day, he answers firmly:

- No, absolutely not a coach.

There is too much pressure and too much to keep track of.

It is much easier to work in a small group with the goalkeeper.

That's what I'm used to and I do not think the head coaching profession suits me particularly well.

In the next match, Djurgården will face table six Kristianstad.
