At the beginning of April, the news came that Anton Wedin would join Timrå for the upcoming SHL season and then the 29-year-old was selected in Tre Kronor's squad for the international matches in Norway.

There, Wedin became a two-goal shooter when Tre Kronor outclassed Norway and won 7-0.

But he also sustained a shoulder injury.

Now it turns out that the injury is so serious that surgery is required - and the rehabilitation is estimated to take six months.

Can miss the premiere

"Anton needs to undergo an operation with a subsequent rehabilitation that is expected to extend into September / October," says Timrå's team doctor Christian Johansson to the club's website.

In addition to, among other things, the World Cup in Helsinki being played during the time that the Timrå forward is expected to be absent, he can also miss the SHL premiere for Timrå.

The 2022/2023 season starts in September.

Wedin most recently came from the KHL, where he played in Siberia Novosibirsk and Dynamo Moscow.

The contract with Timrå extends over five years.
