American women's soccer has a history of scandals.

As recently as October last year, North Carolina Courage coach Paul Riley was fired after years of accusations of sexual assault.

Therefore, a league-wide investigation was started into harassment, discrimination and abuse.

The head coach of the Houston Dash, James Clarkson, is now suspended due to information that emerged at an early stage of the investigation.

No details about the information have been released, but it is suspected that Clarkson has violated the league rules regarding bullying, harassment, discrimination or abuse.

Offers talk therapy

Whether he will be allowed to return to the role is unclear.

A new assessment will be made when the investigation is completed.

No replacement has yet been presented.

"Our organization's top priority is to create and maintain a safe and respectful environment for our players and leaders, as we believe it is crucial to success on the field," Houston Dash wrote in a statement on Twitter.

Players and leaders in the club have in connection with the events been given the opportunity for talk therapy.

In connection with Paul Riley being fired in October, the league manager for NWSL, Lisa Baird, also resigned.
