The national athletics team is now in the 20-degree warm and Montegrinian coastal town of Bar.

At the same time as SVT Sport arrived at the World Cup-preparing training camp, a dramatic car crash occurred that could have ended badly for Simon Pettersson - reigning Olympic silver medalist in discus - and his coach Vésteinn Hafsteinsson.

- We had just been and trained at the gym, and then we came back in a taxi.

When Vésteinn sat and paid in the car, it started to smoke out of the hood.

And you see how the person who drove us panicked, he runs out and throws up the tailgate and starts looking for a fire extinguisher.

It caught fire in the end, says Simon Pettersson.

What did you do?

- We tried to back away from the car.

After a few minutes, another man comes with a water hose and really drowns the whole hood.

And when we saw that he came with the hose, it felt quite calm.

Never worried?

- Well, got a little close when the flames started to come.

Simon Pettersson has already qualified for this summer's World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

In addition, a month later, the European Championships in Munich will be decided in August.
