The Beijing Olympics, Frida Karlsson's first Olympic Games of her career, did not turn out to be what she had dreamed of.

In the skiathlon, the 22-year-old finished fifth, in the 10-kilometer race she finished tenth.

In the relay, it was admittedly a bronze, but Karlsson tried to give away his medal to Jonna Sundling, who she thought deserved it more.

"Shit, this is my best season ever"

- It's so much fun, or it's not fun at all!

But there are many who come to me and just "oh, how boring with this season".

And I just "shit, this is my best season ever as well."

I have never skied so fast, ever, says Karlsson to SVT Sport.

What she is referring to is the introduction to the World Cup.

She won two of the distance races, 10 km classic during the premiere weekend in Ruka, and 10 km freestyle in Lillehammer.

In both races, Therese Johaug, who made her last season as an elite skier, came second.

- Yes, there are few privileged.

I'm proud of how I skied there in the beginning.

It still feels cool to be one of the few who have given her a match anyway.

"I have to believe in myself"

Who do you think will be the new ski queen when she's gone?

- I have to strike a blow for myself then, I have to believe in myself.

But there are probably many aspirants in that place.

- The top will be high.

She has not been completely safe there at the top.
