Villarreal visited Liverpool on Wednesday - a Villarreal that barked and knocked out the giant favorite Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.

The match would start quite calmly where the home team started with a lot of ball, but did not come to any hot opportunity.

But at the end of the first half, Thiago Alcantara was a rib hit from giving Liverpool the lead.

0-0 stood when Polish referee Szymon Marciniak blew for half-time break.

Two goals in two minutes

The home team continued to scoop and eventually received dividends.

In the 53rd minute of the match, Jordan Henderson hit a post that controlled via Villarreal defender and into behind Argentine Gerónimo Rulli in the goal.

Two minutes later it was time again when Sadio Mané increased to 2-0.

The English continued to press for a third goal and were close on several occasions but Rulli played big and kept the numbers down.

For Villarreal, it is the second time in the club's history to reach the semi-finals of the tournament, most recently the 2005/2006 season and if the La Liga club is to reach the final, a monster match will be required at home at the Estadio de la Cerámica (El Madrigal), next week on Tuesday.
