With her fourth title in a row, the Polish world number one, Iga Swiatek, underlined her current exceptional position on the tennis tour in Stuttgart.

The 20-year-old clearly won the final of the most important German women's tournament on Sunday 6: 2, 6: 2 against the Belarusian world number four Aryna Sabalenka.

After Doha, Indian Wells and Miami, it was the fourth consecutive tournament win for the Pole.

In front of around 4,300 spectators in the hall, which was not entirely sold out, Swiatek showed a strong performance in the final of her tournament debut.

After 1:24 hours she had also won the 23rd match in a row on the WTA tour.

Swiatek received prize money of 93,823 euros and a sports car for her success in the final.

As in the previous year, the final ended in disappointment for the 23-year-old Sabalenka.

In 2021 she had to admit defeat to the now retired Australian world number one Ashleigh Barty.

Of the six German women in the main draw of the 611,210 euro clay court tournament, Laura Siegemund from Swabia was the most successful with reaching the quarter-finals.

Three-time Grand Slam tournament winner Angelique Kerber was eliminated in the first round.
