Paris Saint-Germain equals the record for winning the French League title for the tenth time

Paris Saint-Germain equalized the record for winning the French Ligue 1 title for the tenth time in its history, after drawing 1-1 with ten players from its guest, Lens, on Saturday.

Lionel Messi advanced to the hosts before Corentin Jean equalized for Lance, bringing Paris Saint-Germain's tally to 78 points with four rounds remaining, 16 points ahead of Olympique de Marseille, second-placed, who visit Stade Reims on Sunday.

The French capital team won eight of the last ten league titles, and only Monaco in 2017 and Lille last year denied them the title.

Paris Saint-Germain now shares the record with Saint-Etienne, who won ten titles between 1957 and 1981.

But the title was not enough, as a group of Paris Saint-Germain fans left the stadium 15 minutes before the end of the match to express their frustration with the early exit from the Champions League.

The French team was eliminated from the Champions League when it lost its 2-0 lead in the aggregate score to lose 3-2 to Real Madrid within 15 minutes.

"It's something I don't understand," said Marco Verratti, who became the only player to win the Ligue 1 title eight times. "In football, you win and you lose. We try as hard as we can."

Some fans did not show their support for the team despite winning the last four matches in the league and scoring 16 goals.
