“We believe that this is absolutely contrary to the idea of sport, it ultimately harms international federations, harms international competitions when the strongest do not get the opportunity to participate in them,” Peskov said.
He also expressed regret over the continuation of the "harmful line of politicization of sports."
Earlier, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) decided to disqualify two-time Olympic champion Evgeny Rylov for nine months.
Rylov said that he is studying with lawyers the decision on his disqualification.
