According to ESPN reporter Emily Kaplan, Robin Lehner picked up the injury in the away game against the Philadelphia Flyers on March 8.
Since then, he has been away from time to time, but played as late as Wednesday when his Vegas Golden Knights met the Washington Capitals.
However, he was forced to retire after only one period and on Friday night the news came that the season is over.
According to Kaplan, Lehner's body must have finally "given up" and now an operation awaits which means that the season is over.
