The Japan Sports Association has decided to cancel this year's international exchange program with Russia through judo and boxing because the government no longer provides subsidies.

The cancellations were a project to send elementary and junior high school students from Hokkaido to Russia to interact with each other in judo, a project to accept Russian junior high school students in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and boxing from Russian elementary school students to adults. These are the three businesses we accept in Sapporo.

According to the Japan Sports Association, following the military invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the government contacted us that it would not provide subsidies for exchange projects with Russia, and decided to cancel it.

A total of 8 million yen was planned to be subsidized by the national government for the three projects.

In addition, the Japan Sports Association, together with the JOC = Japanese Olympic Committee and JPSA = Japan Para Sports Association, will solicit donations to Ukraine.

Through the three organizations, we will call on member organizations to solicit donations until July 29, and the collected donations will be collected by the Japan Sports Association and donated to the UNHCR = United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
