Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea for 20 years, has been sanctioned by Britain for his links to Vladimir Putin.

He has had his assets frozen and now his club is for sale.

Together, Williams and Hamilton, according to Sky Sports, have decided to contribute just over SEK 245 million to one of the bidders, Sir Martin Broughtons.

Today at a press conference ahead of this weekend's race at Imola in Italy, Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton was asked if his interest is genuine.

- When I heard about this chance, I thought, wow, it's one of the biggest opportunities you can get, to be part of something so big, Hamilton said.

Like Chelsea

Hamiltron was asked at today's press conference if he likes Chelsea.

- Yes.

Is there any truth in the rumors (about a purchase)?

- Yes

His sister forced him to like Arsenal

Hamilton also talked about what puzzled some - isn't Hamilton an Arsenal fan?

The Formula 1 star says that his sister persuaded him as a young man to stay at Arsenal, but that he also often went and saw Chelsea with his uncle.

- My sister hit me hard on the arm and said I have to cheer at Arsenal.

I remember that as a 5-6 year old I became an Arsenal supporter.

But my uncle Terry is a big Chelsea fan so I went to matches with him, says Hamilton.

- Chelsea is one of the most successful clubs in the world and when I heard about this, I thought it was one of the biggest opportunities you can get, to be part of something so big.
