Facts: The playoffs in the Western Conference

A total of eight teams advance from each conference to the playoffs.

In the NHL's Eastern Conference, eight teams are already ready, while in the Western Conference, four teams are ready: Colorado, Calgary, St. Louis and Minnesota.

The conference is divided into two divisions, Central and Pacific, where the top three in each division go on.

The last two play-off places consist of the other two teams with the most points, which then get a so-called wild card place in one in a two-point system.

The following teams settle for the last four places:

5. Edmonton, 96 points, 77 games played

Division: Pacific (2nd place)

Remaining matches: Colorado (h), Columbus (b), Pittsburgh (b), San Jose (h), Vancouver (h)

Swedes: Oscar Klefbom (injured)

Comment: It takes a lot for Edmonton, led by superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, to miss the playoffs.

On the one hand, the team has an advantage considering that they are already fifth in the conference and second in the Pacific division, and on the other hand, they have a relatively advantageous game schedule.

6. Los Angeles, 94 points, 79 games

Division: Pacific (3rd: a)

Remaining matches: Anaheim (h), Seattle (b), Vancouver (b)

Swedes: Tobias Björnfot, Alexander Edler, Jacob Moverare, Lias Andersson, Viktor Arvidsson, Carl Grundström, Adrian Kempe

Comment: After some heavy years, Los Angeles is starting to sniff at the playoffs again.

The team has a relatively simple game schedule but has one match more played than the competitors, which can put sticks in the wheel.

7. Nashville, 93 points, 77 games

Division: Central (4th)

Remaining matches: Tampa Bay (b), Minnesota (h), Calgary (h), Colorado (b), Arizona (b)

Swedes: Mattias Ekholm, Filip Forsberg

Comment: Nashville has impressed.

Filip Forsberg is having a great season and Roman Josi still has the opportunity to reach 100 points - as a fullback.

However, Nashville's game schedule is the most difficult on paper.

In addition to Arizona in the final round, they will face top teams and it will take a lot to finish last.

8. Dallas, 91 points, 78 games

Division: Central (5th)

Remaining matches: Seattle (h), Vegas (h), Arizona (h), Anaheim (h)

Swedes: John Klingberg, Jacob Peterson

Comment: A heavy 2-6 loss to Vancouver makes it all the more difficult for Dallas.

The problem for the team from Texas is that they score few goals going forward and then it becomes difficult when the defense does not work, as against Vancover tonight.

9. Vegas, 89 points, 78 games

Division: Pacific (4th: a)

Remaining matches: San Jose (h), Dallas (b), Chicago (b), St Louis (b)

Swedes: Robin Lehner, Mattias Janmark, William Karlsson

Comment: That Vegas risks missing a playoffs can be seen as a bang.

Although Jack Eichel has been added and team captain Mark Stone is back from injury, they continue to have a tough time.

The game schedule is also quite tough and the risk is great that Vegas will miss the playoffs for the first time.

10. Vancouver, 87 points, 78 games

Division: Pacific (5th: a)

Remaining matches: Calgary (b), Seattle (h), Los Angeles (h), Edmonton (b)

Swedes: Elias Pettersson, Nils Höglander, Oliver Ekman Larsson

Comment: Be the strongest of all with six straight victories.

But then came two straight losses.

After the loss, the Canucks still have four points up to the line - but only four games left to play, in a two-point system.

Now you no longer have everything in your own hands.
