It was on the way to the golf course on Tuesday that the accident happened to the 33-year-old American, who in his career won two competitions on the European Tour.

- It was a car in front of me that broke down.

Then I started to change files, but the guy behind me was - it seems - not so attentive.

He had to throw himself on the brake but still drove straight into me, says Lipsky, according to Golf Channel.

Good start

Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.

- But it has been a bit hectic start to the week, Lipsky states.

But once the competition started, it went well.

After the first day's game, Lipsky, in pair with the Englishman Aaron Ray, is third.

They went eleven strokes under par, and are two strokes behind the leading Americans Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.

For Lipsky, it was six birdies and one eagle.

We find the best Swede in 46th place, through Henrik Stenson in pairs with England's Justin Rose.

They are seven strokes from the leaders.
