Real Madrid continued their path towards winning the Spanish Football League for the 35th time in its history by winning 3-1, on Wednesday, against Osasuna, with goals from David Alaba, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez, while Karim Benzema missed two penalties.

Real's tally is 78 points, 17 points ahead of its closest rival, Atletico Madrid, who drew 0-0 with Granada earlier.

Barcelona is third, and Seville is fourth, behind Atletico, by one point, before the two teams play on Thursday.

Alaba scored in the 12th minute, with a shot from close range after a free kick, but Osasuna equalized two minutes later through Ante Bodemir after a quick counter-attack.

Asensio was in the right place and time to follow a counter-shot from his colleague Dani Ceballos and scored the second goal.

Benzema missed two penalties within 5 minutes in the second half, as goalkeeper Sergio Herrera excelled and saved both attempts.

But things were not resolved until the last seconds, as substitute Vinicius Junior penetrated from the left side and sent a ball around Vazquez to a goal.
