The ATP raises the tone.

The body that manages the pro tennis circuit did not appreciate the press release published Wednesday by the All England Lawn Tennis Club in which we learn of the outright exclusion of Russian and Belarusian players from the Wimbledon tournament. , in reaction to the war in Ukraine.

“We believe that the decision unilaterally taken today (Wednesday) by Wimbledon […] to exclude Russian and Belarusian players from grass-court tournaments this season is unfair and may set a damaging precedent for tennis”, indicates the ATP in a statement.

“Discrimination based on nationality is also a breach of our agreements with Wimbledon under which a player's participation is based solely on their ranking.

We will now analyze (…) the follow-up to be given to this decision, ”adds the text.
