The leaked telephone conversations between Barcelona star Gerard Pique and the Spanish football chairman Luis Rubiales have received a lot of attention.

Pique is said to have received SEK 250 million to help move the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia.

There is also something else in the conversations that is remarkable.

Pique, who was then 34 years old, insisted that he would get one of the three places for seniors at Olympic football, where it otherwise applies up to 23 years.

- You have to do this for me Rubi, you have to make it happen.

We can make it our secret and talk to the league captain.

I'm going to Madrid and have a conversation with him.

We have to do it in a way so that it does not leak out anywhere.

The three of us keep this secret forever, don't you think?

Pique is heard saying to Rubiales during the audio recording that the media house El Confidential took part in.

Wanted to keep Ramos out of the team

Pique had heard that Real Madrid icon Sergio Ramos was also interested in an Olympic venue and wanted to keep his interests secret.

Several senior players are said to have registered their interest in an Olympic venue, according to Rubiales.

Rubiales spoke to national team captain Luis de la Fuente about Pique's interest but was told he would wait until Spain really secured an Olympic place.

Pique did not get an Olympic place but the senior places in the Spanish team, which took silver, went to Mikel Merico, Marco Asensio and Dani Ceballos.
