Last year, the former Frölunda and Linköping player Viktor Svedberg played the ice hockey World Cup for Kazakhstan.

Goalkeeper Henrik Karlsson has done the same.

Svedberg withdrawn again

It is now clear that another Swedish ice hockey player will represent the Kazakh national team in the World Cup.

When Kazakhstan today presented their squad for the championship in Finland, just like last year, Viktor Svedberg, who now plays for Russian Avangard Omsk, also included the former Djurgården and Rögle player Jakob Lilja in the squad.

16 goals in the basic series

Lilja plays, just like Svederg and Henrik Karlsson previously did, for the Kazakh KHL team Barys Nur-Sultan.

That is the reason why they were able to get a Kazakh passport, and thus be able to be selected for Kazakhstan.

Lilja scored the second most goals (16 in 47 games) for Barys in the KHL this season.
