The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich started the Euroleague playoffs with a defeat.
The Bundesliga basketball club lost the first quarter-final game at FC Barcelona, first in the main round, on Tuesday evening 67-77 (33-43).
Bayern dominated the early stages, but after that the visitors lost their rhythm and a nine-point lead for Munich equalized Barcelona early in the second quarter.
After only eleven points in the second quarter, Bayern went into the dressing room 33:43 behind.
With a 10-0 run, Munich were back in the game, but Barcelona dominated the final phase of the third round and once again took a double-digit lead.
Thanks to Vladimir Lucic (top scorer with 20 points), the guests had closed the gap to 64:69 in the middle of the shooting quarter, then the individual quality of the Catalans prevailed.
The second playoff quarterfinal game will take place again this Thursday in Barcelona.
The first team to win three games in the series qualifies for the semi-finals.
