Figure skater Evgeny Semenenko is in a hospital in St. Petersburg after falling during the Evgeni Plushenko ice show Union of Champions.

As it became known on Sunday, the athlete who hit the ice with his head was diagnosed with a concussion.

According to the coach of the young man Tatyana Mishina, he has numerous hematomas, but there are no serious internal injuries.

At the same time, it is still premature to talk about an extract from a medical institution.

“It will be seen from the situation, the doctors reacted with all their attention, but no one will talk about it now.

He's such a guy, he's also apologizing for causing so much trouble.

He is a good sincere person, ”said the specialist in an interview with TASS.

Despite the incident, none of Semenenko's coaching staff blames the organizers of the show.

Mishina, in particular, noted that everything was prepared at the highest level.

“The ice is normal, and the show is so grandiose, so many spectators.

He himself unsuccessfully entered the jump, according to the technique it turned out not in the best way.

No one is to blame here, it's just an accident, ”added the coach.

According to sports doctor Liu Hongsheng, the recovery will take the skater from three months to six months.

If you go out on the ice earlier, you will suffer from headaches.

“With a concussion, the longer it takes to return to physical activity, the better for health.

And so, about three months to recover.

And in a good way, it’s generally half a year, because if you start training earlier than the allotted time, there will be constant headaches, ”Sport Express quotes a specialist.

The fall of Semenenko occurred after the skater tried to perform a quadruple jump.

In this regard, a discussion arose as to whether it is worth including ultra-si elements in the program during ice shows, where the lights are usually dimmed, which significantly complicates the task.

So, coach Alexander Zhulin advocated limiting the difficulty in such events.

“And it is also necessary to negotiate with the illuminators so that they turn on full light during heavy elements.

The risk increases exponentially in the dark.

So you need to either negotiate with those who are responsible for the light, or limit the complexity of the jumps, ”the Championship specialist quotes.

Honored coach of Russia Inna Goncharenko also drew attention to the lighting during the show.

At the same time, in her opinion, no one forced Semenenko to take risks.

“You can completely limit yourself to triples.

Of course, an athlete should think about his health, the fall was terrible, Zhenya is very worried.

Spotlights disrupt coordination, and the guys sometimes come out not very warmed up.

It’s good when an athlete is confident in himself, he tries to please the viewer in difficult conditions, but an active athlete should think about his safety, this, as they say, daring youth is not always justified, ”said Goncharenko.

However, most representatives of figure skating did not support Zhulin's idea.

According to Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, falls are part of the profession.

“Limit the difficulty of jumps?

What for?

Of course not.

It's a sport.

In any sport there are different injuries, there are many injuries.

We all went through them.

I also fell, hit my head and lost consciousness.

It's not physical education.

If he fell in training, no one would know about it, ”said Plushenko.

The same opinion was expressed by the honored coach of Russia Tatyana Tarasova, and the choreographer Ilya Averbukh emphasized that ice shows are also part of the preparation of an athlete for competitions.

“Everyone knows that projections are used during the performance of the show's skaters.

These are standard things.

Mark Kondratyuk also did quadruple jumps on it, Kolya Kolesnikov also performed a quadruple sheepskin coat.

These are just mistakes that can happen in any situation, in any state.

The guys strive to stay in shape, to train, ”said Averbukh.

According to the winner of the Universiade in ice dancing Betina Popova, figure skaters have long been accustomed to performing under the spotlights, although it is still dangerous to perform quads in such an environment.

“What happened to Zhenya is very scary.

I will say that performing in the dark is, of course, more difficult, but the athletes are used to this format.

And they perform at the show without six-minute warm-ups, because of this, waiting for their entry on the ice after a trial run can be very long, so doing quadruples is, of course, dangerous.

When the arena is smaller, it’s very unusual to skate, but before the show there is always the opportunity to try the ice and correct the moments of the performance where you don’t fit into the size of the ice, ”Popova said.

At the same time, almost all representatives of figure skating believe that there is nothing catastrophic in this fall.

And the reaction of the public is caused primarily by the fact that the incident took place in front of thousands of spectators.

Renat Laishev, President of the Sambo-70 Center for Sports and Education, even compared the performances of figure skaters with circus programs.

“Athletes cannot be stopped.

They will strive in every possible way to fulfill these elements.

The show is attractive because there is more free access.

Let's take the same circus, where there are elements on the verge of a foul, where the whole hall shudders and freezes.

And in figure skating the same work goes on for the viewer, the desire to become famous, to do what others cannot.

Unfortunately, injuries are inevitable in all sports,” Laishev said in an interview with RB-Sport.
