Pages and accounts on social networking sites in Algeria circulated a picture that was said to show the president of the Cameroon Football Association, Samuel Eto'o, accompanied by Gambian referee Bakari Gassama, hinting at a deal between them.

The Algerian Football Federation filed a complaint against Gassama due to “arbitral errors” during the match between Cameroon and Algeria in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

In the photo, Samuel Eto'o appears sitting in what appears to be a restaurant next to Gassama, the referee of the match in which Cameroon snatched the qualification for the 2022 World Cup from Algeria on March 30th.

The French Press Agency indicated that the publishers of this image wanted to imply that there was a deal between the two men that affected the results of the match that ended with Cameroon beating Algeria 2-1, but the image is complex.

This comes in light of the Algerian Football Association's request to the International Football Association (FIFA) to open an investigation into what happened during the match, and to re-conduct it.
