The first set between US Alison Riske and Ukraine's Dajana Jastremska in the Billie Jean King Cup meeting lasted a full hour and 27 minutes.

The 34-point tiebreaker is the second longest in the tournament's history - in 2004 a 40-point tiebreak was played in a doubles match between India and Uzbekistan - but in the end Riske took home the set.

The match ended 7-6 (18-16), 7-5 to the American.

- Honestly, I do not even know what happened, Riske said after the match.

- It was so bizarre and fantastic at the same time.

I felt that every time I got a set point, she came up with something, a good serve or a fantastic return, that got me off balance, she continued.

"Laughed inside"

- I laughed inside and at the same time I wanted to cry.

I did not know when it would end.

It was so unpredictable in both directions, said her opponent Dajana Jastremska.

In the second US-Ukraine meeting, USA's Jessica Pegula beat Ukraine's Katarina Zavatska 6-2, 6-1.

Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russian and Belarusian players have been excluded from the team competition Billie Jean King Cup, the ladies' equivalent of the Davis Cup.
