Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary former coach of Manchester United, still earns the equivalent of 284,000 euros a week, despite the passage of 9 years since his retirement from coaching.

The 80-year-old - in his legendary 26-year stint as a coach at Old Trafford - has dominated the Premier League and European football on multiple occasions.

And while Ferguson is retired and happily living and remains close to everything Man United, it seems that one of the greatest coaches of all time is still earning a big salary.

According to the newspaper "The Sun", Ferguson's book, his investments and his public appearance - in addition to the 2 million pounds annually he receives as an ambassador for the "Red Devils" club - made him receive a salary that competes with a first-class player in the Premier League.

The report notes that Ferguson has seen the value of his personal companies rise to 48 million euros, making about 15 million euros in the last year alone.

The Glasgow-born coaching legend also made a fortune with his 2013 book Alex Ferguson: My Autobiography, which was an instant hit, selling millions of copies.

In addition, Ferguson was given the role of club ambassador at Old Trafford when he retired from management in 2013.

Ferguson works about 20 days a year, earns £2m for the role and is a regular at home games.

During his unparalleled career, Ferguson won the Premier League title on 13 different occasions, making him one of the best coaches in football history.

He also won two Champions League titles along with a host of other domestic titles, making Manchester United the legendary team they are today.

Since his retirement, United have won only 3 titles and have not won a title in 5 consecutive seasons.
