City apologizes for 'songs during the minute of silence' before Liverpool match

Manchester City Football Club has apologized for a group of fans chanting shouts and songs during a minute of silence before the team's match against Liverpool at Wembley Stadium, which ended with Liverpool winning 3/2 yesterday in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

A group of Manchester City fans chanted songs during a minute's silence in honor of the victims of the Hillsborough disaster, which occurred 33 years ago, before referee Michael Oliver signaled an end to the silence.

A club spokesman said: "Manchester City is deeply disappointed by the behavior of some of their fans during the minute of silence before the match."

For his part, Pep Guardiola, coach of Manchester City, said: "They do not represent us."

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp also commented on this behavior and chanting, saying, "Wrong, it was very strange. But Manchester City apologized for that. And that's fine."

On 15 April 1989, more than 90 people were killed in a stampede during the Liverpool and Nottingham Forest match in the semi-finals of the Cup.

Most of the victims were Liverpool fans.
