According to CNN, the British Olympic Committee (BOA) revealed on Thursday local time that they had received a notice from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) requiring the men's 4x100m relay silver medal won during the Tokyo Olympics to be returned.

British Olympic Committee chief executive Andy Anson said in a statement: "This is very sad, especially for the three athletes who were not affected for their own reasons. However, this is the ruling of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport. We must obey."

The British relay team was asked to return the silver medal of the Tokyo Olympics, which means that the Chinese team consisting of Tang Xingqiang, Xie Zhenye, Su Bingtian and Wu Zhiqiang is one step closer to hanging the Olympic medal on its chest!

In the men's 4×100m relay final at the Tokyo Olympics on August 6, 2021, the Italian team won the championship, and the British team crossed the finish line second.

The Chinese team finished the race in 37.79 seconds, only 0.09 seconds behind the Canadian team, ranking fourth and missing the podium.

However, a few days after the game, the international testing agency announced that Uja, a member of the British relay team, had tested positive for a urine sample from a bottle of A, and the relevant samples were collected after the relay final.

Uja then applied for a bottle B test, but results released in mid-September last year showed that his urine sample from bottle B was still positive.

Although Uja himself emphasized that he never knowingly took any illegal drugs, the two positive results mean that his doping test samples contained prohibited ingredients.

The international testing agency immediately referred the incident to the Anti-Doping Department of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The agency will rule on whether Uja constituted a doping violation and whether Britain's relay silver medal will be withdrawn.

After a wait of about five months, the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced the relevant results in February this year.

As expected, Uja was found guilty of doping violations, and the British team's results were also cancelled.

In March this year, the World Athletics Federation's website updated the players' information. The personal introductions of Chinese athletes Su Bingtian, Xie Zhenye, Tang Xingqiang and Wu Zhiqiang added an honor: the Olympic bronze medal.

This means that the World Athletics Federation has recognized the result of the Chinese team winning the bronze medal in the men's 4X100m relay at the Tokyo Olympics, which is also the best result in the history of the Chinese team in this event!

Netizens have also expressed their views on the British relay team being asked to return the Olympic medals and sent their best wishes to the Chinese players.

Introduction of Su Bingtian on the official website of the International Olympic Committee

At present, the information about Chinese athletes on the official website of the International Olympic Committee has not changed, and we still need to wait patiently for the arrival of this precious medal.

But as many have said, it's only a matter of time.
