Watani Al Emarat Foundation has finished receiving the nomination files for the Sports Footprint Award, which falls within the categories of the Watani Al Emarat Award for Humanitarian Action 2022, which this year bears the slogan “This is what Zayed loved,” and is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the Crown Prince. The Sports Footprint Award has been added to the categories of the “Watani Emirates Award for Humanitarian Work” since the seventh session, in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, in appreciation of the role of sport in the movement of society, and honoring individuals and institutions who support volunteers to spread the practice of sports, and provide them with the atmosphere and capabilities to motivate different groups of society to participate. A statement issued by the Dubai Sports Council said that work is underway to select the winner of this pioneering national award that supports and honors distinguished people who have left their mark in the development of sports and physical activity, and spreads the concept of volunteering in the sports sector.

The winner will be honored at the annual award ceremony on the 19th of Ramadan, which coincides with the anniversary of the death of the late, God willing, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace.

The Dubai Sports Council had invited sports clubs, institutions and individuals in the sports sector with contributions to humanitarian work and supporting the dissemination of sports practice to run for competition in the two categories: individual and institutional to win this national award that enhances the values ​​of humanitarian and voluntary work in society within the focus of competition.

Nakheel also won the Sports Footprint Award in its second cycle, thanks to its continuous initiatives to promote a balanced lifestyle for the community, by providing modern sports facilities, which are an essential part of Nakheel communities, as they include dedicated cycling and running tracks, sports fields and parks, which provide ideal places. For everyone among its population of 300,000 people, since its establishment, it has sponsored and hosted prestigious international sporting events in its communities such as the Emirates World Tour, Dubai International Tour, local cycling races, women’s running challenge, international triathlon championships, and others.
