Liverpool tied with Benfica and set a date with Villarreal in the Champions League semi-finals

Liverpool tied 3-3 with its guest Benfica in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals today, to set up a date with Villarreal in the semi-finals.

Liverpool reached the semi-finals after winning 6-4 in the first leg, despite German coach Juergen Klopp making seven changes to the squad that drew 2-2 with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday in the English Premier League.

Ibrahim Konate opened the goals for Liverpool after 21 minutes of the start before Goncalo Ramos equalized for the visitors in the 32nd minute. But Roberto Firmino scored two consecutive goals in the second half to make the score 3-1 for the hosts.


Ukrainian Roman Yarmashuk reduced the difference for Benfica in the 73rd minute, then Darwin Nunez equalized for the visitors eight minutes before the end.
