Spain's Villarreal blew a surprise of the caliber and qualified for the semi-finals of the European Football Championship for the first time in its history, after drawing with its host Bayern Munich 1-1 in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the main continental competition.

The Polish Robert Lewandowski scored the advance goal for Bayern (52) and Samuel Chakwesi equalized the score for the "Yellow Submarines" team in the 88th minute.

The first leg ended with Villarreal winning at home with a clean goal, thus the Spanish team won with a total score of 2-1 and qualified for the semi-finals at the expense of Bayern Munich, crowned with the European title 6 times.
