Besard Sabovic, the former Djurgårds and Mjällby player, remains in Russia and plays his football for the top league team Chimki.

When all other Swedish players chose to use UEFA's regulations to pause their contracts, the 24-year-old was left alone blue-yellow in the country that invaded Ukraine on 24 February.

- When everything happened and it came out that you had to leave, I took it a little as it came.

We have six matches left and as it looks now, I want to finish the season here.

It is not a pleasant feeling (to be the only Swede left, editor's note).

It looks worse than it is.

But there are many foreigners left here, so I feel a little calmer as a result, says Sabovic to Fotbollskanalen.

The former U21 national team player also talks about his life in Chimki, northwest of Moscow.

- It is very difficult to live here and not get to know much (about the war).

I understand Russian, so I can still understand a little what people are talking about, but I read mostly Swedish media.

I'm against all war, my club too, and I have nothing to do with the war.

A war is the last thing I want in the world.

A total of eight Swedes have left the Russian top league.
