The International Football Association Fifa launches its own streaming service, Fifa +.

The service, which according to Fifa will soon be operational, will be free and available worldwide.

In 2022, Fifa promises to broadcast over 40,000 matches from over 100 countries, 11,000 will be women's matches.

The content also includes documentaries and talk shows.

According to the news agency AP, the streaming service can in the long run be a way for Fifa to broadcast the World Cup play-off matches at a certain cost.

It can also be a further step from the streaming giant Youtube where Fifa has its own channel.

Fifa's latest congress in Doha, Qatar, two weeks ago was not broadcast on Youtube, unlike previous congresses.

- We are a little more strategic about what is broadcast where and when, said Fifa's commercial manager Kay Madati.
