Netherlands national team coach: My treatment for prostate cancer succeeded.. and this method

Dutch coach Louis van Gaal has confirmed that he has undergone successful treatment for prostate cancer.

The Dutch national team coach had announced that he had contracted the disease on Dutch television earlier this month.

This news raised questions about whether Van Gaal could lead the Dutch national team in the World Cup scheduled in Qatar during the months of November and December.

The former Barcelona and Manchester United coach revealed that he had received a successful treatment against cancer.

Speaking about his treatment, Van Gaal, 70, told Dutch news agency ANP: "Everything went through me. I underwent radiotherapy 25 times. Then I had to wait 5 to 6 months to see if the treatment worked or not." And indeed he succeeded."

Van Gaal will leave his position after leading his country in the Qatar World Cup 2022, as the Dutch coach is looking to get a better position than the third place he led the Dutch team to in 2014 in Brazil.

The next appearance of the Dutch national team will be in the European Nations League, where it will face the teams of Belgium, Wales and Poland, knowing that the tournament begins in June.
