FIFA launches a digital platform for live broadcasting of football matches

The International Football Association (FIFA) on Tuesday launched the “FIFA +” free digital platform for broadcasting live matches, dedicated game content and World Cup archives, in a service that will be available in five languages ​​and aims in particular to highlight women’s football.

FIFA said in a statement that this platform will provide "the opportunity to watch live matches from every corner of the world, in addition to interactive games, the latest news, tournament information and unparalleled video content."

“FIFA is the next step in our vision to make football more global and inclusive, as this platform supports FIFA’s main mission to expand and develop football globally,” said Gianni Infantino, President of the Swiss Football Association.

He added, "This project represents a cultural shift in the way football fans interact with and explore the global game, and this has been an essential part of my vision for 2020-2023, and in doing so, we democratize football with its participation with the fans, and we are very happy with this."

The International Federation statement indicated that the platform will broadcast "by the end of this year, the equivalent of 40,000 live matches annually from 100 member associations and six confederations, including 110,000 matches of women's football."

The platform will also provide wide and direct coverage of football, from the largest European championships to the various men's, women's and youth competitions all over the world, and "you will find on our platform since the first day of its launch 1,400 live matches per month, and this number will double very quickly," according to the statement.

On the other hand, the platform, before the upcoming World Cup finals in Qatar at the end of this year, will be “home to everything that was recorded by the cameras’ lenses in the matches of the men’s and women’s championships, with more than 2,000 hours of archive content, and this is the first time ever that such an archive is available to all fans The ball is without exception.

The archive will be from the 1950s, in addition to feature documentaries, tapes, series, talk shows and short films.
