Hassan Shehata announces his position on coaching the Egyptian national team, succeeding Queiroz

The legendary coach of the Egyptian national team, Hassan Shehata, revealed his position on the possibility of him returning to the field of training again during the coming period, following the dismissal of the Portuguese Carlos Queiroz from training the “Pharaohs”, and he said in television statements: “It is possible that I return to training again, and there is no I have a crisis."

Shehata's name was strongly circulated during the past hours, to succeed Queiroz, who was dismissed from his position yesterday, Sunday, after his failure to lead the "Pharaohs" to reach the World Cup finals "Qatar 2022".

Shehata, who has not supervised any team since his departure from the Egyptian Petrojet club in 2016, added: “But no one wants me to return to the field of training again. Appreciate the responsibility and do not compliment, even if he walks without hypocrisy and courtesy, our Lord will honor him.”


Shehata, nicknamed "The Teacher", is considered one of the most prominent coaches of the "Pharaohs" throughout history, as he previously led the Egyptian national team to achieve a historic treble for the African Nations Cup, in the years 2006, 2008, 2010.

In addition to Shehata, other local and foreign names have been nominated to lead Egypt in the next stage, such as national coach Hossam Hassan, Egyptian coach Ihab Galal, who is currently supervising Pyramids in the Egyptian Premier League, Swiss Rene Weiler, and Argentine Hector Cuper.

The Egyptian national team is preparing for the 2023 African Nations Cup qualifiers, which will start next June, with the first and second rounds.
