The Eschborn-Frankfurt cycle race on May 1st can be expected to feature another well-known professional line-up.

Three weeks before the start of the 61st edition it is certain that racers from eleven World Tour teams will be at the start.

In addition, there are eight second divisions and a national team made up of talented German professionals, the organizer announced on Thursday.

Three weeks before the cycling classic, it is of course not yet clear in which line-up the top teams will arrive.

But one can assume that, for example, the best German racing team Bora-hansgrohe will send personnel with serious ambitions to win.

Top sprinter Jasper Philipsen from Alpecin-Fenix will not miss the opportunity to defend his title on the finish line in front of the Alte Oper.

The Frankfurt series winner Alexander Kristoff (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018) comes with the fresh recommendation of his victory on Wednesday at the traditional Schelde Prize and for the first time in the jersey of the French team Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux.

The Norwegian will be accompanied by Biniam Girmay, that's for sure.

The Eritrean recently achieved cycling history at the classic Gent-Wevelgem.

Girmay was the first winner of a World Tour race from Africa.

From a regional perspective, eyes will be on local heroes John Degenkolb and Jonasrutsch.

The Oberurseler Degenkolb (Team DSM) came second in the previous year's event, which was postponed to autumn, and was close to his first home win since 2011. For the Odenwald slide it is his professional premiere on May 1st at Eschborn-Frankfurt.

"It's going to be a cool race, I'm really in the mood," says the 24-year-old Erbacher.
