The DFB Foundation Egidius Braun provides financial support to clubs that are committed to helping refugees from Ukraine because of the Russian attack.

The foundation provides a flat-rate recognition bonus of 500 euros for integration into the game and training operations of the respective club.

The donation can be used to finance sports materials, excursions or meeting offers.

Initially, a total of 50,000 euros is available for the program.

The first prize went to FC Motor Süd Neubrandenburg from the state football association of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

"It is currently very important to enable the people who have fled to participate in training and club life," said DFB Vice President Ralph-Uwe Schaffert, the chairman of the DFB Foundation established in 2001.

Between 2015 and 2021, the Braun Foundation, together with the Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration, was involved in the initiatives "1:0" and "2:0 for a welcome" for refugees.

In total, more than 3700 funding applications with a total volume of more than 2.3 million were approved.
