The father of one of the children adored by the Portuguese star, Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United striker, spent more than 4 thousand dollars to see his "icon" from the stands.

Chris Brom, 43, and his son Zach, 12, attended 3 different matches in the hope of seeing the Portuguese striker score goals on the field and celebrate in his own special way.

In addition to the thousands of dollars, father and son traveled more than 2,000 miles but had bad luck.

In 2020, the pair traveled to see Ronaldo at a Juventus match, and Chris and Zack paid more than $2,000, so you can imagine how frustrated they were when Ronaldo didn't play after the coach gave him some rest.

However, Ronaldo then returned to Manchester United the following summer, so seeing the 37-year-old Portuguese is a little easier for both Chris and Zack.

Chris and Zach chose the Manchester derby match at the "Al Ittihad" stadium last March to attend it on the field, but in a surprise to many - and certainly among them Chris and Zach - Ronaldo was injured "in the thigh" and missed the heavy loss 4-1.

The unlucky father and son stayed in a hotel, and eventually cost about $2,000.

"The third is said to be a constant", and Chris and Zack were hoping that would be the case when they picked up some free tickets to play Man United and Leicester City last Saturday.

But things did not go as Chris and Zack had hoped, as Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick confirmed that Ronaldo missed the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, due to his suffering from the flu.

Although Chris has spent a lot financially, he is still determined to fulfill his son's dream.

"I spent a lot, but I promised Zack I would take him to see Ronaldo play, so I'll make it happen anyway," Chris said.
