The new Sweden Cup on roller skis is launched at the request of active and long-distance Sweden for more competition opportunities during the summer.
- Norway has had a few competitions and I have been there for a few years to get some competition and some blocking and break the summer training a bit.
So I think this will be super good and I hope that many will run it so that there will be a high level in the competitions, says Maja Dahlqvist.
Start-up for the national team
The first competitions will take place on the new multisport track at Lugnet in Falun, 2-3 June.
Then two competition days are planned, which start with a distance race and end with a sprint.
The Swedish cross-country national team's training groups plan to have their kickoff in connection with the competitions in Falun.
─ The interest in following our national team skiers is also there in the summer.
It will be a good opportunity for us to showcase the business and compete in connection with the fact that we have a start-up gathering with all national team troops, says the national team manager, Anders Byström in a press release.
Can miss Falun
But for Maja Dahlqvist, who had just received information about the new cup, it clashes with the plans to visit her boyfriend Kevin Bolger.
- Yes, I had already booked a ticket to the USA, so it can be a little difficult.
I would have liked to go to Falun, but it's not just about going back and forth in the United States.
But I have to check that to see if there is something I have to be at home on, says Dahlqvist.
In addition to the first competitions in Falun, 2-3 June, the cup also consists of the Swedish Championship week in Linköping and Trollhättan Action Week.
- As much as I have seen about it, I think it's a good thing and I think it's fun to compete in the summer.
If it suits me, I will definitely take part in those competitions, says Dahlqvist.
