Despite a goalless first half, both teams had qualified opportunities to break the deadlock.

After twenty minutes played, Jacob Ondrejka played until a completely clean Jeppe Okkels who failed to put the ball behind Samuel Brolin in the Mjällby goal.

Not long after, Elfsborgsspelarna called for a penalty by hand when Mjällby's Noah Persson was hit by the ball in his own penalty area, but did not get a hearing from the referee and the match was played on.

- I think it is hands on and think maybe the line judge can take it, said Elfsborg's Jacob Ondrejka to Discovery + during the break.

Towards the end of the half, it was instead visiting Mjällby who pushed forward and Carlos Moros Gracia could almost turn around in the penalty area and set the lead goal, but Tim Rönning stretched out and made sure it was 0-0 at the break.

Fun behind Mjällby's victory

But in the second half Mamudo Moro stepped forward and put Mjällby in the driver's seat.

After a quick change, he got a free kick and was able to send the ball into the away corner.

The same Moro then also played until 2-0.

This time with a post from the right that David Löfquist nodded into the crossbar.

Despite the majority of chances, Elfsborg did not manage to get the ball in, remained goalless and had to be defeated in front of the home crowd.

- In terms of chances, we create enough to win, but then it will be a 0-2 loss instead at home and it feels damn heavy right now, says Jimmy Thelin.
