The J-League has announced that there was a clear mistake by the referees in applying the Laws of the Game in the match between Montedio Yamagata and Fagiano Okayama in soccer J2 on the 3rd.

Since mistakes affect the outcome, the handling of the match will be decided after consulting with the International Football Association Board, which sets the rules of the game.

Okayama defeated Yamagata 1-0 in the match

In the first half of the Montedio vs. Fagiano match on the 3rd, the Montedio goalkeeper squeezed his backpass just before the goal line.

If the goalkeeper handles the intentional back pass by hand, it will be judged as a hand, and for this play, the referee presents a red card saying that he "blocked the scoring opportunity" and the goalkeeper Was sent off.

The match was followed by Fagiano scoring one goal and winning 1-0 just before the end.

However, the Laws of the Game states that "if a goalkeeper handles the ball with his hand or arm even though he is not allowed in his penalty area, he will be given an indirect free kick, but no disciplinary penalty." As such, Montedio was asking the J-League for confirmation.

In response, the J-League has announced that the referee has confirmed a clear misapplication of the competition rules that will affect the outcome.

The handling of this match will be decided after confirming with the International Football Association Board, which sets the rules of the game for soccer.
