Värnamo has made the mighty journey from the lower divisions to the Allsvenskan.

Former national team player Jonas Thern, manager of the club, has been involved and led the team to success.

Today awaits a long-awaited premiere in the Allsvenskan and they face IFK Gothenburg - where Jonas' son Simon is housed.

- Jonas has joked a bit that Simon calls him from time to time to get details about our game.

I think it's a joke, but there's probably some seriousness and prestige there, really.

Simon is probably a little nervous, a lot is at stake, says Värnamo striker Marcus Antonsson to SVT Sport.

"No barking"

Antonsson, who joined Värnamo before the season, highlights Blåvitt as a well-known team.

- They finished last season positively even though they had problems last year.

There have been highs and lows for them during the pre-season.

As I said, it is a good football team, but there must be ways to beat them.

Värnamo is tipped by the media to end up in a negative qualifying spot, but Antonsson is not worried.

- No bang that the media tips us far down the table.

We'll see how far it goes in the end, but we do not set any specific table placements as goals.

We want to pick out the highest level that we know we have in us.

How do you think the pre-season has gone for you?

- These are things that have been good and things that have revealed that we need to continue working on.

We have made some simple individual mistakes and seen clearly that when we have met skilled teams, we have been punished.

We will be more careful.

"Will support"

How ready are you for the premiere?

-

I am completely convinced that we will be ready.

Then there are many players in the team who have not experienced the Allsvenskan before and you will need a few rounds before you get warm in your clothes.

But I think we will get better the longer the season suffers.

You are one of the more experienced in the team.

What do you say about your role?

- First and foremost, we in Värnamo want to achieve things together, it is not up to an individual.

But with my age and experience, I become a bit of a leader in the team that way.

However, I do not feel that everything depends on me.

We will support each other in times of adversity.
