During a German professional soccer Bundesliga match, 12 Bayern Munich players briefly played together on the ground in an 'accident'.

Munich defeated Freiburg 4-1 in the away match of the 2021-2022 Bundesliga round 28 at the Europa Park Stadium in Freiburg, Germany on the 2nd (local time).

But at the end of the game, something strange happened.

Each team had to have 1 goalkeeper and 10 field players running, but on the ground there were 12 players in Munich jerseys.

In the 41st minute of the second half, the team took a 3-1 lead, but Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman were replaced, and Nicklas Julet and Marcel Sabitzer were substituted. .

After that, Freiburg raised a problem and the game was suspended for about 8 minutes, and the referee resolved the problem after assessing the situation and resumed the game.

Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann explained that this was due to the player's jersey number being displayed incorrectly during the substitution process.

Coach Nagelsmann said, "The referee showed the wrong jersey number and Coman didn't know he had to leave the field. It was a mistake. It wasn't an event that affected the outcome of the game, but it was strange."

The BBC said that Munich could face disciplinary action if the Freiburg side formally sues.

According to the Bundesliga rules, there is a chance that Munich will be forfeited.

Freiburg manager Christian Streich said: "I don't think we need to appeal. We followed all the rules. I'll just say this."

Referee Christian Dingert said that he recorded the incident in the match report and explained, "It was a chaotic situation. The decision in this regard rests with the German Football Association (DFB)."

Despite the chaotic situation, Munich won 4-1 in the second half with a key goal from Xavicher in extra time.

Munich, which is challenging for 10 consecutive victories in the regular league, kept its lead (with 66 points, 21 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses), and Freiburg was in fifth place (45 points, 12 wins, 9 draws and 7 losses).
