The Japan Sports Agency has redesignated "J Village" in Fukushima Prefecture, which was the base for responding to the nuclear accident, for the first time in nine years as a base for strengthening soccer for the Olympics and Paralympics.

The Japan Sports Agency has set up a "National Training Center" in Kita-ku, Tokyo as a strengthening base for top athletes, and has designated facilities all over the country as strengthening bases for competitions that require specialized equipment.



On the 1st, facilities designated as strengthening bases for 3 years from this year were announced, of which "J Village" in Fukushima Prefecture was designated for soccer.



"J Village" was designated as this strengthening base for four years from 2009, but after the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred in 2011 during the period, it became a base for work toward the settlement of the nuclear accident and decommissioning.
