The Japan Sumo Association has decided not to limit the number of visitors to the Grand Sumo Nagoya venue this July.

This is the first time that a sumo tournament has been held without restrictions since the spread of the new coronavirus.

This was decided by the Sumo Association's board of directors held on the 31st.

The sumo tournament continues to be held with a limited number of visitors to prevent the infection of the new coronavirus, and in May, at the summer venue held at the Kokugikan in Ryogoku, Tokyo, more than 9,000 people, which is 87% of the normal number per day, will be held. It will be implemented at the upper limit.

According to the Sumo Association, we have decided not to limit the number of visitors to the Nagoya location in July because priority measures such as prevention of spread have been lifted.

The capacity of the venue, Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium, will be more than 7,400.

This is the first time that the event has been held without restrictions since the spread of the infection, and the event without restrictions has been held since the beginning of the second year of Reiwa.

In addition, eating and drinking in the audience seats will be considered based on the guidance of experts.

In addition, it announced that it will hold a tour in August, which had been canceled at the end of the winter tour in the first year of Reiwa.

The Sumo Association will establish a new manual for infection control in tours, and will consider where and when to hold tours in the future.
