Peterson ended his skiing career in early 2020 after belonging to the national team for more than a decade.
The merit list includes an Olympic silver in the sprint from Sochi 2014, and during the same game there was another silver in the sprint relay.
He also has two World Cup victories in sprint from 2012 and 2013.
Today he makes a comeback - as a biathlete - at today's mass start at the Swedish Championships in Piteå.
- Teodor is a hunter and has tried to shoot a few times, including yesterday.
He should be able to ride with the group the first lap, but the shooter will take time and I have a hard time seeing that he can be seen far ahead in the race after the first visit to the dike, says SVT's commentator Ola Bränholm.
Peterson will represent the club Biathlon Guild Full House.
