Edvin Anger is 19 years old and still attends the ski high school in Mora.

On Saturday, he took home the Swedish Championship gold in sprint in superior style, he led both the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals from start to finish.

Thomas Wassberg, who has four Olympic golds and three World Cup golds, has never won a Swedish Championship gold as a junior.

His first came at the Swedish Championships in 1979 in Mora, when he was 23 years old.

He is now chairman of Åsarna IK and is on site in Piteå.

- It looked good from the beginning, the trial, quarter, semi, all the way.

- What was fascinating was that he was so superior, there was no talk about it, says Wassberg.

The Swedish Championship gold historically - the youngest ever

No junior has previously won Swedish Championship gold at the major Swedish Championships on the men's side.

On the women's side, it has happened, including Charlotte Kalla won gold at the Swedish Championships in 2007, as a junior.

- It is not really possible to think in those tracks, it feels unrealistic, you do not really understand now what it is you have done, Anger says to SVT Sport.

Wassberg was quick to congratulate the 19-year-old on the feat.

- He came after the race and gave me a big hug, all the leaders lifted me up.

When Wassberg comes and is to lift one up to the sky, it's big, there are not that many he has done it with, says Anger.

Wassberg recruited Anger - remember the first meeting

Edvin Anger was recruited to Åsarna 2020 from the parent club IFK Hedemora in Dalarna.

Wassberg and Larry Poromaa (former head of the national team and father of William) went and met Anger.

- He showed his front feet already then and was interesting, we made a chance simply, a good chance.

- It was great, says Wassberg.

Indicates remember the meeting.

- We met at a restaurant in Mora, I was a little nervous, they are quite large profiles in the world of length, all tables looked at Wassberg, he says.
