Charlotte Kalla has been the ski queen of all of Sweden for more than a decade.

The merit list includes four individual Olympic medals and five individual World Cup medals.

Earlier this week, she announced that the Swedish Championships in Piteå will be the last in her long and successful career.

On Saturday, she told SVT Sport about what it was like to make the decision.

- There have been a lot of emotions since last Sunday, just to make those calls, she says.

She develops:

- Maybe not exactly that I decided to quit, but more when you start looking at what your career has involved, it has been wonderful feelings

"It was special when I sat alone and wrote"

She says that it was especially difficult to make a call.

- But I am easily moved and proud in a different way than I have been before, then I did not want to look in the rearview mirror, she says to SVT Sport.

What was the most emotional call to make?

- It was especially when I sat alone and wrote how I would summarize it if I were to write something on social media, it was one thing to write it down than to read it aloud.

- I was not prepared for that when I told Torbjörn (Nordvall, manager) what I wanted it to say in the press release, it was probably the first time it bubbled up then.
